London relies on a 150-year-old sewer system built for a population less than half its current size. As a result, millions of tonnes of raw sewage spills, untreated, into the River Thames each year. The solution to this challenge was Tideway, a 26km Super Sewer to clean up the river for the good of the city, its wildlife and communities.
The solution was; secure approval and funding, establish a new delivery organisation and deliver the scheme. Project Controls was at the heart of this challenge.
The team led the creation of the project estimate and baseline. In parallel to securing approval and finance, the team designed, procured and implemented a complete controls solution and were able to establish a best in class solution to support the delivery of Tideway.
